Injured Jasprit Bumrah out of England T20I, ODI series | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: India’s premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah would be missing the forthcoming ODI and T20 series against England after fracturing his finger. According to top sources in the Indian team management, Bumrah was injured during the T20 series in Ireland that got over on Friday. Bumrah will be returning home, hoping to be fit for the five-match Test series that starts in Birmingham on August 1.

Bumrah’s injury will be a blow for the Indian team – considering his form and accuracy in shorter formats of the game. “But he was very good in the Tests in South Africa as well and team management will hope that he gets fit in time for the Test series against England. It’s a big blow for India. Hope his replacement will do a good job of it,” a source in the know of things told TOI on Saturday.

India are likely to draft in either Mumbai paceman Shardul Thakur or Rajasthan pacer Deepak Chahar as possible replacement. Both were part of the Chennai Super Kings side that won the Indian Premier League this year and consequently made the India A side which is currently touring England.

India will play three T20Is and three ODIs in England and the team management is looking at the series as a preparation for the 50-over World Cup which will also take place in England next year.
